We don’t know about you, but we have already had three bicycles stolen right outside our home despite using heavy-duty locks. To prevent theft, a Lyon-based startup plans to install monitored parking areas entirely dedicated to bicycles and scooters in the city.
A bicycle is extremely easy to park in the city. However, unless you bring it inside your home or hide it in the stairwell (and even then), there is a high chance of it being stolen. To combat the scourge of theft, a Lyon resident decided to launch the startup Wheelskeep last summer. One year after its launch, the young company will test a parking facility reserved for cyclists on Quai Claude Bernard, near the Piscine du Rhône.

From August 15 to September 9, this parking area will accommodate bicycles and scooters, which will be monitored by a ‘keeper’ throughout the day and night. Paying for a spot or reserving it in advance is simple: a dedicated smartphone application is available, and it is even possible to do so by sending a simple SMS.
This is not Wheelskeep’s first venture, as the company had already successfully monitored the bicycles of Lou Rugby fans during the last two matches of the season at Matmut Stadium. The icing on the cake: it will also be possible to have your bicycle repaired on-site. A cyclist’s paradise!
